Teachers and school stuff at a secondary school witnessed a dramatic scene on Thursday after students engaged in a fierce fight with their parents.
The student at Thimbili Day Secondary School are said to have gone on a rampage at the institution threatening to burn down the laboratory when parents and other locals heard the commotion and intervened to stop the plans.
Some of the students and parents sustained injuries during the commotion as the agitated students smashed the laboratory windows with stones. However, the students were overwhelmed by the residents forcing them to take off.
According to the school principal, Ms Bridget Baariu, the students had earlier been nabbed with 80 textbooks stolen from the school library.

He also noted that the actual cause of the fracas was not clear since the students were also demanding the exit of the deputy principal.
“I was called by a student last night who informed me they were planning to strike. I don’t think the strike [has anything to do with] the books. They refused to listen to me and said my deputy should go first and this might be the cause of the whole issue,” she said.
The school has since been closed indefinitely pending investigations and a crisis meeting by the school board to deliberate on the way forward.
